Sally Obermeder (@sallyobermeder) has opened up about her weight loss struggles and how fighting the condition changed how she eats. Back in 2022, Obermeder lost another 22 kgs in 12 months, but it wasn’t something she felt compelled to share nor did she really notice it until fans started asking her about her weight loss.
She recalled a moment on Christmas Day in 2020 when she realized, exactly, how the previous 6 months when she moved offices increased workload while her sister went on maternity leave, and her daughter graduated had taken a toll on her body.

The social media star was out for a walk and she became aware of her fitness, and how it had decreased. When her daughter would suggest going to the park for running, she would suggest going to the movies or a cafe instead of going to the park to run around.
She knew she didn’t have the fitness to keep up with them. It wasn’t until those venues closed due to the pandemic and the effect her fitness was having on herself and her two daughters, noting her body has become an afterthought.
Sally Obermeder kept it simple when it came to changing her lifestyle, foregoing a new athleisure wear wardrobe, and joining a new gym, instead opting for a daily 30-minute walk, which also gave her time to herself. She didn’t set out to lose weight because it was not her goal: she wanted to feel more fit and connected to her body.
Moreover, Sally wanted to become more active with her daughters. She also paired her daily walks with bathing daily, doing body Gua Sha or a sheet mask. Gradually, she increased her walk time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes, and eventually, an hour.

On the other hand, the Co-Founder of SWIISH assures that crash diets are not wellness. She believes the numbers on the scale are not an indication of wellness and it is looking at yourself. She started taking more photos, fitting into clothes she hadn’t worn in five years and had lower cholesterol levels. She feels proud because she no longer avoids physical exercise with her daughters.
Sally also admitted that you can be happy at any weight and you can also be sad at any weight and miserable at any weight. Moreover, she revealed the size of our clothes or the number on the scales is not who we are as people and it’s our heart, kindness, morals, and values that make us the most important thing.
While in her 20s Sally had packed on weight after finding herself drowning in debt and working in a job she hated. Food was her sanctuary during that time. When the television personality joined the job, she weighed about 50 kg, and by the time she was around 96 kg.
She found herself losing weight slowly but surely after kicking daily cravings for fatty foods and huge meal portions. Back in 2011, when Sally was pregnant and heard the worst news of her life, she suffered from breast cancer.
The television presenter put on 26 kg again by turning to food during chemotherapy treatment, but it was not long before her fighter instinct kicked in. In 2013, Sally Obermeder lost a staggering 36 kg thanks to regular exercise and respect for nourishing food. She devours every day a vegetable-packed green smoothie.
Sally’s weight started to fall off, her skin started to look better, her nails were growing, and she had energy-heaps of energy. Moreover, Obermeder was so confident in her daily dose of nutrients, she published a book called Super Green Smoothies with her sister, Maha Koraiem.
