He is now the General Manager of Football for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs of the National Rugby League. Furthermore, he was named Panthers captain at the age of 20, making him the youngest leader of the New South Wales rugby league premiership since Dave Brown led Easts in the 1930s.

Because the Canterbury Bulldogs football manager appeared thin and trim as he walked the stage to answer questions about the upcoming season from host James Bracey.

According to the reports, he will be back in the commentary box for Channel 9 this year, in addition to his duties at the Bulldogs. And if his new physique is any indication, he’ll be plenty of energy.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, the 59-year-old has undergone more than 10kg of weight loss since joining the Bulldogs after leaving the Warriors in 2021. Likely, Insiders also claim that his weight loss is just a result of controlling his food and exercising more. However, he has not yet shared any details regarding his diet or exercise routine with the public.

But Phil Gould fans and admire are very considerate of him in these matters because he needs to keep a good diet and take care of his body as he ages. Furthermore, one of the reasons he earned his nickname Gus was that once his playing career ended, he acquired weight and began to resemble the Mr. Squiggle persona.

Similarly, at the Channel 9 debut, Gould’s co-commentator Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin reportedly mentioned his weight, stating, “Who is this? Phil Gould’s Career as a Coaching Director!

During Ricky Stuart‘s period as coach of the Sydney Roosters, Phil Gould served as the club’s Coaching Director. Later, he was appointed General Manager of the Penrith Panthers in May 2011. According to club chairman Don Feltis, the post entails direct engagement in all parts of football club management, including coaching and team support operations. Later, he left the club in 2019.

On September 6, 2019, it was reported that Phil Gould has joined the St. George Illawarra club as part of the end-of-season review and will be joining the team permanently in 2020. Ultimately, he wouldn’t end up fulfilling this role.

Later, Phil Gould was announced as a club-wide consultant for the New Zealand Warriors in August 2020. But he was later removed from his formal post with the Warriors on July 16th, 2021 to become the General Manager of the Canterbury Bulldogs. However, he would maintain contact with the Warriors in order to support their pathways personnel.
